Inner coils were made of sumac or cottonwood and the outer coil of split thin leaved yucca. Used maily for ceremonial purposes (commonly weddings) and also for everyday purposes such as gathering and storing food.
In these modern times you can also, simply hang them in an arrangment on the wall to add color and texture to your space.
